National Librarian's Day Celebration, 2019

Dear All,

This is to inform you that Department of Library and Information Science, Mizoram University, Aizawl has observed National Librarian's Day on the occasion of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan's Birthday (Father of Library Science in India) on 13th August, 2019 at Dean's Conference Hall, SEMIS, MZU. Prof. S. N. Singh, Head, Department of Library and Information Science has delivered the welcome address. Prof. R. K. Ngurtinkhuma highlighted the life and works of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan. Dr. Akhandanand Shukla delivered a speech on "Relevance of Ranganathan's Philosophy in Modern Information Society". Ms. R. D. Rosangzuali, 3rd semester student of MLIS also delivered speech on Ranganathan. During the function, number of songs and dance have been performed by students and scholars of the department. Mr. Dibanjyoti Buragohain, Ph. D. Scholar has compered the program. A formal vote of thanks has been proposed by Dr. Amit Kumar, Coordinator of the function. All the MLIS students, M. Phil. Scholars, PhD Scholars and Faculty members of the Department were involved actively to make the function gracious.

Successful Completion of Open Viva-voce of Mr. Nitesh Kumar Verma, PhD Scholar

Dear All,

This is to inform you all that Mr. Nitesh Kumar Verma, PhD Scholar of Department successfully defended his PhD open viva-voce held at the Dean's Conference Hall, SEMIS, Mizoram University, Aizawl on 13th August, 2019. The Scholar has elaborated the research work and successfully answered the queries raised during the open viva-voce. Prof. L. Shashi Kumar Sharma (Head, Department of Management, MZU) was the Vice-Chancellor Nominee for his open viva-voce and Prof. R. K. Ngurtinkhuma was the subject expert from the Department. Prof. NVR Jyotikumar, Dean, SEMIS was the Chairman of the function. The other members were Prof. S. N. Singh, Head, DLIS, MZU and Dr. Akhandanand Shukla, Faculty member and research supervisor of the scholar. Research Scholars from the Department as well as other departments, Faculty Members, and Non-teaching staff of the Department were present during the open viva-voce.

Grand Success by Florida J Ngurhmingliani, M Phil Scholar

We are very glad to inform you that Ms. Florida J. Ngurhmingliani, Ex-M.Phil. Scholar and Alumni of the Department has been selected as Contractual Staff (Library) at Mizoram Law College, Aizawl. She did her MLIS and M. Phil. degree from the Department. She has completed her M. Phil. under the supervision of Prof. S. N. Singh.

Awareness Program with Newly Admitted Students

Dear All,

This is to inform you that Department of Library and Information Science has organised awareness/ initiation program with newly admitted students of the Department on 2nd August, 2019 on 11:00 AM at the 4th Semester Classroom of the Department. Prof. S. N. Singh (Head), Prof. Pravakar Rath, and Prof. R. K. Ngurtinkhuma have addressed the newly admitted students and informed them about the various academic activities organised by the department for their benefit. The program started with the introduction of each newly admitted student and introduction of the faculty members. Further students have been suggested to clear their doubts on any academic issue at any time with any teacher. In the last, they have been informed to participate in the Observance of Librarian's Day which is going to be held on 13th August, 2019.

Observance of National Librarian's Day

This is to inform you that Department of Library and Information Science, Mizoram University, Aizawl is going to observe National Librarian's Day on the occasion of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan's Birthday (Father of Library Science in India) on 12th August, 2019. Due to gazetted holiday on 12th August, 2019, the program will be organised on 13th August, 2019 on 11:15 AM at the Dean's Conference Hall, SEMIS, Mizoram University, Aizawl. Dr. Amit Kumar, Assistant Professor is the Co-ordinator for the program along with Mr. Sanjay Kumar Maurya (Guest Faculty).

All the MLIS students, M. Phil. Scholars, PhD Scholars, Library Professionals and Faculty members of the Department are requested to participate in the function.

He is registered in PhD under Dr. Akhandanand Shukla. His topic of the research is "Usability Analysis of Indian Institutes of Technology and Indian Institutes of Management Libraries' Website: An Evaluative Study".
